I Guess I'm Getting Kind of Old

25 is pretty young. I feel young, and sometimes I have to remind myself how old I really am and...yes, it was that many years since high school, even though it doesn't seem like it's been that long. However. A few things have happened in the last few weeks that have reminded me just how old I am. Chronologically that is.

We'll start with the cute 17 year old that I work with at the Bux. She's so sweet. She loves Jesus and she works about as hard as a 17 year old knows to work. I like her.

I know I'm not alone in what I'm about to say. Last week I was sitting in a corner chair waiting to be picked up from work. In that time, my dear 17 year old partner had come in, but our paths had never crossed. I popped my head around the corner, and this is what she said,

"Have you been out in the rain?"

"Uhhh, no. Why do you ask?"

Now, I know the answer to this question. I know I'm 25 and I know 25 is ancient to a 17 year old. I remember thinking that myself.

"Oh well, you just look like you've been out in the rain."

"Ohhh. Thanks! Actually, I've just been sitting in the corner after an eight hour shift that seems to have effected me more than I thought."

And admittedly, I opted out of applying make-up that day. Never. Again.

I guess I'm just not the young sprite I once was....

The other milestone that has occurred is that little brother Evan got his driver's license. It's not strange to most people when a sib gets a license, but when there is nearly 10 years difference in age, it makes you think twice about attempting to sport the new trendy jeggings.

I'm just saying.

It's weird that Ev is driving because it seems like yesterday he couldn't stay awake long enough in the car to watch the tree at the end of the drive way pass by. I hope he's worked on that.

He ALWAYS fell asleep in the car. The second the engine turned, he'd kick off his Trovani's boots, leaving one sock on, and passed out. He particularly did not like the free way. His energy level was no match to the free way.

One day while approaching I-5, he was quoted as saying, "Ahhh, mom! Not the fru-way again! Can't we take the city??"

Congrats Evan. And don't hate me for telling this story! It's one of my favorite Evanisms!
