FAQ's

If you're reading this you must be pretty loyal. I've been a bad lil' blogger. However, here's a fun little questionnaire made up all that are frequently asked.....

1. Why, why WHY aren't you blogging anymore?

This question is second only to "What are you having?" I wish I knew the answer to this question. Lack of inspiration? Or I see many of my readers now on a regular basis, leaving little to mention on the blog? Life right now is less than exciting or much different than anyone else's? I don't know. Perhaps you could help me....Anything you'd like to discuss here?

2. What are you having?

I don't know. We've decided to take the, what many have dubbed "OLD-FASHIONED" (rude), route. We are excited for the surprise at the end of this portion of the journey. If you want to know my opinion, I think it's a boy. But I have nothing but old wives' tales to back that theory.

3. How are you feeling?

I'm feeling as well as can be expected. Aside from gas, charlie horses, feeling heavy and HOT.....pretty darn good. I'm a worrier by nature and so every little thing makes me jump to conclusions. For instance, we had what I'm hoping to be our last 5 ultrasounds last week and found out the baby is big for it's gestational age. So aside from the anxiety of birthing a 15lb. babe, I'm also pretty sure I've already contributed to my babies battle with childhood obesity or it's not out of the realm of possibility that this child will beat this record.....

So I think the next time I do this, no ultrasounds. They're all fun and games until you find out you're birthing a professional wrestler. I think I'll go all out "OLD-FASHIONED." Just the midwife, some warm water, rags and a bottle of whiskey.

4. Is your nursery finished?

No.

5. What would you rather have? Boy or girl?

I don't know because I've never had either one. But I will be thrilled with healthy.

6. Are you drinking enough water?

No.

7. What are you craving most?

I'm loving sweets right now. Since I found out the beebs is a little big, I've cut back on the two cupcakes at a time and reduced fat cinnamon swirl coffee cake with white chocolate mochas. But last night for dinner I had a pb&j with a side of strawberries and cherries and that seemed to satisfy the sweet tooth of baby and me just fine.

8. How far long are you in terms of months?

I don't know. When people that have never been preggo tell me that the amount of weeks means nothing to them, I have to admit that translating weeks into months is just as foreign to me. I think it has to do with someone's bright idea to give us all the impression that pregnancy only lasts 9 months when it's really 10. So to answer the question, I'm 27 out of 40 weeks pregs. And then they leave with a confused look on their faces.

9. When are you due?

October 4th.

10. Are you going to use drugs?

This is a loaded question. We are planning to have the baby at a birthing center where little intervention is offered. They don't have an anesthesiologist on staff to administer pain relief. So lots of walking, breathing and soaking is in my plan. But as I've learned in many years of working with children, they often have their own plan. So should the baby come early, we will be forced to have it in a hospital, where if it is offered I may or may not take them up on it. I really have no opinion one way or the other on the matter of giving birth. We're all different and as much as we want to be in control of every situation, we can't be. So I will go in with an open mind, and hope for the best. Both options have the intent on the same end result: a healthy baby and mom.

11. Why the birthing center and not the hospital?

Because I like the option of going home on the same day as giving birth if I want to. And it's a much more comfortable setting with a "homier" feel than a hospital. And I like the option to birth in a more natural position than on my back with my legs in the air. Let's let gravity do some of the work, yeah?

So there you have it. My most frequently asked questions as of late. One thing is for sure; This baby is surounded by so many that already are lovin' on it, which makes this momma happy. So, thank you. We are less than three months (I think), or 12 and a half weeks away from meeting our beebs and introducing him or her to you!

  1. Welcome back to the blogging world. Good to see you back. Helen had all our kids without pain meds. We were at a hospital but she delivered all of them naturally. She's a stud. Will be praying for you.
