One year. 525,600 minutes(reminds me of a song). One year ago i was 23, single and fighting off a headache
from a bachelor party. I cant believe how fast the year has gone. it sounds so cliche but time really does
go by faster when you get older, and I'm only 24! i hope it doesn't keep getting faster exponentially because by the time I'm 50, I'll only have a few seconds a year to do stuff!
As you may have guessed, I am not the usual blogger today. Kate has asked me to create a guest blog.
although at first i was somewhat intimidated my having to follow such a great blogging icon (+1 brownie points), she told me just to write about whatever was on my mind at time.
Well, there are so many things on my mind my neck can barely support this watermelon, but the one that im thinking of most right now is marriage. I think even a few years ago the idea of being married was, while not outlandish, I found it simply hard to picture. What would it look like...
I had crazy ideas like I would have to change every bad habbit, or disgusting bodily function not sanctioned by the old married couple's handbook. I thought I might be shopping on saturdays, and working the "honey-do" list on sundays. Possibly even have to get pedicures!(she SWEARS lots of guys get them.....)
It seems though I was thinking somewhat selfishly. If we were married shouldn't I WANT to do those types of things!? The answer is YES!
One year into the journey I can say that marriage changes a few things for sure, but not EVERYTHING. Now I still find myself on sundays watching the game, but usually we are watching it together. She MIGHT even understand enough to explain a few things now. (which I think she has in a preivious post which was my favorite one yet because she talked about football). And when we go shopping on a saturday, I like being out, just the two of us, going where the day leads. We want to spend time together, what we are doing is not nearly as important as who we are doing it with.
I am thankful for my marriage, family, friends, and God. He has definately been looking out for us during this year and during our constantly evolving and growing relationship.
I am also thankful for the time we have had to dig deeper into our faith as a couple in small groups and the great friends we have made in Cory and Aysel.
Today though, I'm mostly thankful for my wonderful wife, my soulmate, and friend(yet somehow we have nothing in common). She is the "M" to my "W"(I think only Pastor Cheryl will get that one).
Happy Anniversary!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Go J-E-T-S! Jets, Jets, Jets! Or was it the Seahawks...the big apple really gets to you...
